Hair care

Hair care

Maintaining the health and condition of the hair is an important aspect of the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh). In Sahih al Bukhari, it is narrated that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, “Whoever has hair, let him look after it properly.”

Wash the hair regularly.

As recorded in Al Bukhari, the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) used to pour water three times on his blessed head, and then rub the hair gently but thoroughly to ensure the whole scalp and roots of the hair had been wetted. The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) first perfumed his head with any beautiful scent which was available; taking it in his hands first he rubbed the right side of the head, then the left side, and finally the middle with the scent. That scent remained on him even after he had finished bathing (pbuh).

Studies have shown that the best frequency for washing the hair is after every couple of days. The use of a mild medicated shampoo is recommended and it is advised not to shampoo the hair more than once at each washing unless it is very soiled. A separate rinse with a hair conditioner is also beneficial as it adds softness and helps with combing.

Women who have very long hair which is always plaited must undo the plaits and wash the hair thoroughly after completing the menses. It is not permissible just to make the hair wet or just to wet the tips of the hair.

Care when combing wet hair.
Using a fine-toothed comb on wet hair can cause immense stress on the hair shaft when it is wet, which leads to breakage and hair loss. Use a wide-toothed de-tangling comb and spray in a little leave-in conditioner onto the hair. Never pull at the hair when combing it.

Massage the scalp regularly with hair oil.

Massaging gently and regularly (once a week or so) using the fingertips, with any one of the following oils is recommended for increasing circulation and blood-flow to the scalp, thus strengthening the hair roots and conditioning the hair shaft;

· Palm oil (the use of this oil is the Sunnah of the beloved Messenger of Allah (pbuh) who used to rub it into his hair and beard). Red palm oil can be found in Asian grocery stores.
· Sesame oil
· Jojoba oil
· Extra Virgin Olive Oil (particularly beneficial for slowing down the greying process)
· Coconut Oil (this oil needs to be warmed gently before application by standing the bottle in a bowl of hot water).

The hair oil should be applied for a minimum of one hour and a maximum of eight. Oils derived from petroleum should be avoided and wherever possible, organic sources of natural hair oils should be sought out.

Using Henna.

Chemical-based hair colourants and highlights cause great damage to the hair and leak harmful toxins into the blood stream through the pores in the scalp. Henna is a natural dark red dye made from the dried and crushed leaves of the Henna plant. 100% pure Henna is safe to use even by pregnant women. It has hair-strengthening properties and also helps cool down the scalp, reduce headache and migraine, slow down the greying of hair, heal flakiness/itchiness, remove dandruff and kill lice. The use of Henna was the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (pbuh) who applied it to his blessed hair and beard.

Henna should be mixed with an acidic liquid like lemon juice until the mixture forms a thick paste. This should then be covered and left to sit for 24 hours before more lemon juice can be added to make the consistency easier to apply. Henna can be left on the hair for between 2 and 8 hours.

The stain of pure Henna is always dark red/orange in colour. So called ‘Black Henna’ or ‘Brown Henna’ should never be used as it is most certainly a composition of toxic chemicals which could cause a very serious allergic reaction.

Sleeping properly.

Good quality sleep relieves stress which has been linked to hair loss.

Kalonji & Za’fraan (Black seed with Saffron)

Kalonji & Za’fraan (Black seed with Saffron)
We have a habit of listening to hypothetical stories & we act upon them immediately, but we should try to explore the goodness of ISLAM & whatever is recommended by Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam.

Many people use Honey with Cinnamon, as the subject has been shared by hundreds & thousands.

The best alternative to promote is Honey with Black seed (Kalonji) & Za’afraan (Saffron).

Although Honey & Kalonji are available in every house, but many days & months just pass away & we never use these blessings, so it is necessary to make a beautiful blend & keep it at your side-table.

Kalonji as 300 grams
Za’fraan as 10 grams
Good quality Honey as 500 grams

Grind Kalonji & Za’fraan together, heat the honey at lowest flame for a while & mix the ground Kalonji+Za’fraan. And when you talk about Honey & Za’fraan, CHAANDI (Silver) is the 3rd essential. Add 30 Silver foils & mix again, you will have a beautiful paste, pour in a jar & wait till it cools down before closing the cover. (But silver foils are not compulsory & you may skip them, especially if you have some kidney issues).

Take a tablespoon at an empty stomach & wait for 2 hours for the breakfast, & a teaspoon after dinner.

And if you are unable to find Pure Saffron, make the blend with Za’fraan alternatives which are recommended by Ibn-e-Seena.

Kalonji as 300 grams
Qust-al-Bahri as 100 grams
Tajj Qalmi ~ Cassia OR ordinary Cinnamon as 50 grams
Honey as 600 grams

Within 2 weeks, you will observe a big change in your body, improvement & strength in immune system, digestion power going to its top mark, elimination of headache / Migraine, gaseous vapors, Hyperacidity, throat infections, runny nose, asthma, cough, Bronchitis, etc. The paste will help women with menstrual cramps, irregular monthly periods & Amenorrhea (not recommended during pregnancy).

Kalonji has a positive effect on liver diseases. One of its most obvious uses is for diarrhea and dysentery, combined with astringents. The seeds also are a rich source of sterols, especially beta-sitosterol, which is known to have anticarcinogenic activity. This substantiates its use for indurations and/or tumors of the abdomen, eyes and liver.

Kalonji seeds are combined with various purgatives to allay gripping and colic and also help kill and expel parasites. It is also used as a diuretic to relieve Ascites, for coughs, eye-sores, hydrophobia, jaundice, paralysis, piles and fever.

Saffron is used as a nervine sedative and for fevers, melancholia and enlargement of the liver. It also has stimulant, rejuvenative, expectorant, aphrodisiac, antispasmodic and stomachic properties.

It has an essential oil, the active ingredient of which is aphrodisiac in nature. Its aphrodisiac virtue is due to the slight stimulation of the central nervous system. It is also used in spasmodic cough and asthma and in catarrhal affections of children. It is also given in anaemia, chlorosis and seminal debility. It also strengthens the heart, brain and liver. Saffron induces menstruation, treats period pain and chronic uterine bleeding. Saffron contains a chemical called crocin, which has been determined to increase the oxygen content of the blood, which may in turn reduce plaque build up in arteries.

Ibn-e-Seena wrote that original Saffron releases the color slowly, so you will have to perform a Cold Water Test, put some Saffron in a glass & pour cold water, artificial Saffron (coated with colors) will release the redness immediately, while pure Saffron gives a pale color initially & turns to red slowly.

Blessings of Melon

As for Melon (battikh)– “Whenever you eat fruit, eat melon, because it is the fruit of Paradise and contains a 1000 blessings and a 1000 mercies. The eating of it cures every disease. Hadith

Generally, the sweeter a melon, the greater its heat. Green varieties tend to be cold; the yellow, hot. The Prophet (saw) took melons with fresh dates. Melon purifies the bladder and the stomach, and improves the spinal fluid and eyesight. Melons should not be eaten first in a meal.

“None of your women who are pregnant and eat of watermelon will fail to produce offspring who are good in countenance and good in character.” hadith
Health Benefits
The Watermelon has no fat or cholesterol and is an excellent source of vitamins A (notably through its concentration of beta-carotene), B6 and C and contains fibre and potassium.

The pink watermelon is also one of the largest sources of the carotenoid antioxidant, lycopene (lycopene is being studied for its ability to fight heart disease and some cancers) when comparing to other fruits and vegetables.
In addition, it also has amino acids, such as citrulline and arginine, which are said to be able to help in maintaining the arteries of the heart.

O L I V E S Benefits

O L I V E S Benefits

The history of olives is very ancient. According to scholar of Ahadiths, olives were the first things that was found on earth after the water level came down to the ground, after the remission of “Toofan-e-Nooh” {A clamity sent down to the nation of Prophet Noah (A.S) by Allah (SWT) when they crossed all the boundaries and their cruelty reached to the apex (as told in Al`Quran Al`Hakeem}.

Olives are very rich in vitamin E, a good source of iron, copper and a helpful dietary fibre. Olives go through a special process of refinning and cannot be eaten directly from the plants. It’s good for preventing heart diseases and gastrointestinal health problems. The refined olive oil is good for skin and hair.

Allah (SWT) has revealed (in Al`Quran) the benefits of olives and stresses the importance of Zaitoon (olives) on several occasions: (141-M-AlInaam-6), (99-K-AlInaam-6), (11-K-AlNahl-16), (AlNoor-35), (Moominoon).

In addition to that, Prophet (SAW) has also mentioned the benfits of olives in several Ahadiths.

Hazrat Sayyed Al-Ansari narrates that the Prophet (SAW) said “Eat the olive oil and massage it over your bodies since it is a holy (mubarak) tree.” {Tirmizi, Ibn Maja}.

At another place, Hazrath Abu Hurairah (t) narrates that the Prophet (SAW) stated, “ Eat the olive oil and apply it (locally), since there is cure for seventy diseases in it, one of them is Leprosy.” {Abu Naim}

We should be thankful to Allah (SWT) for all these blessings and must remember the beatiful verses of Surah Al`Rehman in which Allah (SWT) says that:

“Fa`bi Ay`i Ala i Rab`ikuma Tuka`ji Ban”

“And which of the favours of your Lord (SWT), that ye deny?”

Important: [Please do recite Al’Quran for the proper recitation of this beautiful Ayah]

Prophet Muhammad (saws) liked vinegar. Modern medicine also acknowledge its anti-cough, anti-inflammation and digestive properties

Jabir used to say, “I have loved vinegar since I heard it from Allah’s Prophet”. And Talhah ibn Naf’a said, “I have loved vinegar since I heard it from Jabir.”
[Muslim, Abu Dawud, Nasa’i]

Dates are very useful for a pregnant woman at the time of delivery as it makes it easy, comfortable and less painful. Allah (SWT) bountied Hazrat Maryam (AS) [Mary, The Virgin Mother], with dates at the time of birth of Prophet Jesus (AS) to make it easy and less painful.

Allah (SWT) says in Al`Quran Al`Hakeem, ” And shake the trunk of date-palm towards you, it will let fall fresh ripe-dates upon you.” (25) “So eat and drink and be glad, And if you see any human being, say: ‘Verily! I have vowed a fast unto the Most Gracious (Allh ) so I shall not speak to any human being this day” {Surah Al-Maryam; Verses 25-26}

Allah (Az`o Wa`Jul) says at another place in Al`Quran Al`Hakeem, “Then We brought forth for you there with gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you, and where of you eat.” {Surah Al-Mukminah; Verse:19}

To clarify it more to the understanding of people Allah (SWT) revealed the worthiness of dates through “Hadith” by Prophet Muhammaed (SAW).

Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him(SAW)) said, “Feed your pregnant wife with dates, because when the pregnant woman eat dates, she would surely to give birth to a baby who is patience, well behaved and intelligent.”

This practice of the Prophet, upon him be pieced, is recorded in the two genuine Hadiths collections of Bukhari and Muslim:

Abu Buradah reported from Abu Musa, who said: “I had a new-born baby; I took him to the Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace and blessings, who called him Ibrahim. The Prophet chewed a date, then he took it and rubbed the inside of the baby’s mouth with it.”

Similarities and Differences between Plato and Aristotle on Political Theories

Similarities and Differences between Plato and Aristotle on Political Theories

Plato is regarded as the first writer of political philosophy, and Aristotle is recognized as the first political scientist. These two men were great political thinkers. There are a lot of differences between the two even though Aristotle was a great student of Plato. They each had ideas of how to improve existing societies during their individual lifetimes. It is necessary to look at several areas of each theory to seek the difference in each. There are some similarities too, but first we will discuss the differences.

The main focus of Plato is a perfect society. He creates a blueprint for a utopian society, in his book The Republic, out of his disdain for the tension of political life.Plato sought to cure the afflictions of both human society and human personality. Essentially what Plato wants to achieve is a perfect society.

Aristotle, unlike Plato, is not concerned with perfecting society. He just wants to improve on the existing one. Rather than produce a blueprint for the perfect society, Aristotle suggested, in his work, The Politics, that the society itself should reach for the best possible system that could be attained .Aristotle looks to the ideals which are expressed in the

laws, customs, and public opinion of the people of the actual states;these are the materials which politics must respect ,work with, and seek to improve. In short, all that has to be done is to try to improve on the existing one.

Plato's utopia consists of three distinct classes:the producers, the auxiliaries and the rulers or guardians. The Guardians are to be wise and good rulers. The guardians are to be placed in a position in which they are absolute rulers. They are supposed to be the select few who know what is best for society.

Aristotle puts a high value on moderatio. He finds the polity, which is a mean between oligarchy and democracy ,as the most workable system of government. The polity is the rule of those with property ,as in oligarchy, but the property qualification is low ,so that the majority of the citizens have a share in government,as in democracy. The polity is in effect ruled by a large middle class;it will provide ,Aristotle believes,a stable,well-administered foundation for the state, since this class is composed of equals and similars of moderate means, who are most likely to follow the rational principles.

Aristotle rejects the political absolutism of Plato, even though the despots are philosophers kings. For Aristotle a good society is one in which the constitution is sovereign and the relation between the ruler to ruled is that of freemen, who are morally equal.

Aristotle also rejects Plato’s radical ablition of private property and the family for the ruling class.Aristotle supports the institution of family.

Aristotle’s fundamental oposition to Plato’s theory is that it constructs an unattainable ,speculative ideal with which it undertakes a criticism of existin states.Aristotle rejects the political theory expressed in Plato’s Republic on the ground that it is too speculative, too utopian, too far removed from the actual city states and their forms of government. There is so much of Plato's utopia that is undefined and it is carried to extremes that no human being could ever fulfill its requirements.

But there are major areas of agreement between Plato and Aristotle on political theory.Like Plato ,Aristotle views the state as having a moral end or purpose:the highest possible moral development and happiness if its citizens. Also, like Plato,Aristotle regards the state as having primacy over the family and over the individuals. The state is a self-sufficient whole, wherears the family and the individual have no self-sufficiency but are only parts dependent upon the social life of the state. It is only in the state that the virtues of the individual are developed and functional and the good life, the life of happiness ,can be lived.Aristotle also initially follows Plato’s classification of types of government into three good and three bad states according to the number of the rulers.

They both had well thought out ideas and plans on how to build a better society. Both Aristotle and Plato have had a tremendous impact on political scientists of today. Aristotle helped to develope some democratic ideas. In conclusion these men were great thinkers. Their opinions on society and its functions were quite different, but they both had the same intention, to build a better way of life for the societies they lived in and for the societies that would come to be in the future.

Cholera

Cholera

Cholera may be a microorganism sickness sometimes unfold through contaminated water. infectious disease causes severe symptom and dehydration. Left untreated, infectious disease are often fatal during a matter of hours, even in antecedently healthy individuals.

Modern waste matter and water treatment have just about eliminated infectious disease in industrialised countries. The last major happening within the United States occurred in 1911. however infectious disease remains gift in continent, geographic area, Haiti and central Mexico. the chance of infectious disease epidemic is highest once impoverishment, war or natural disasters force individuals to measure in jammed conditions while not adequate sanitation.

Cholera is definitely treated. Death results from severe dehydration which will be prevented with a straightforward and cheap rehydration solution.

Most people exposed to the infectious disease microorganism (Vibrio cholerae) do not become sick and ne'er grasp they have been infected. Yet  because they shed infectious disease microorganism in their stool for seven to fourteen days, they will still infect others through contaminated water.

Most symptomatic cases of infectious disease cause delicate or moderate symptom that is usually arduous to differentiate from symptom caused by different problems.

Only regarding one in ten infected individuals develops the everyday signs and symptoms of infectious disease, sometimes among some days of infection.Symptoms of infectious disease infection might include:

Diarrhea. Cholera-related symptom comes on suddenly and will quickly cause dangerous fluid loss — the maximum amount as a quart (about one liter) AN hour. symptom as a result of infectious disease usually features a pale, whitish look that resembles water within which rice has been rinsed

(rice-water stool).
Nausea and projection. Occurring particularly within the early stages of infectious disease, projection might persist for hours at a time.Dehydration. Dehydration will develop among hours once the onset of infectious disease symptoms. looking on what number body fluids have been lost, dehydration will vary from delicate to severe. A loss of ten % or additional of total weight indicates severe dehydration.Signs and symptoms of infectious disease dehydration embody irritability, lethargy, sunken eyes, a dryness, extreme thirst, dry and
shriveled skin that is slow to recuperate once pinched into a fold, very little or no weewee output, low vital sign, ANd an irregular
heartbeat (arrhythmia).
Dehydration might cause a fast loss of minerals in your blood (electrolytes) that maintain the balance of fluids in your body. This is called AN solution imbalance.
Electrolyte imbalance
An solution imbalance will cause serious signs and symptoms such as:
Muscle cramps. These result from the fast loss of salts like metal, chloride and metal.
Shock. this can be one in all the foremost serious complications of dehydration. It happens once low blood volume causes a call in

blood pressure and a call in the quantity of gas in your body. If untreated, severe shock will cause death during a matter of
minutes.
Signs and symptoms of infectious disease in kids

In general, kids with infectious disease have constant signs and symptoms adults do, however they're significantly prone to low

blood sugar (hypoglycemia) as a result of fluid loss, which can cause:
An altered state of consciousness
Seizures
Coma
When to check a doctor
The risk of infectious disease is slight in industrialised nations, and even in endemic areas you are not doubtless to become infected

if you follow food safety recommendations. Still, discontinuous cases of infectious disease occur throughout the globe. If you develop severe

symptom once

visiting a vicinity with active infectious disease, see your doctor.
If you have got symptom, particularly severe symptom, and suppose you will are exposed to infectious disease, look for treatment

directly. Severe dehydration may be a medical emergency that needs immediate care no matter the cause.

Causes

A microorganism known as vibrion infectious diseasee causes cholera infection. However, the deadly effects of the sickness ar the

results of a potent toxin known as CTX that the microorganism manufacture within the bowel. CTX binds to the enteral walls, wherever it interferes

with the normal flow of metal and chloride. This causes the body to secrete huge amounts of water, resulting in symptom and a fast
loss of fluids and salts (electrolytes).
Contaminated water provides ar the most supply of infectious disease infection, though raw shellfish, raw fruits and vegetables,

and other foods can also harbor V. cholerae.

Cholera microorganism have 2 distinct life cycles — one within the surroundings and one in humans.
Cholera microorganism within the surroundings Cholera microorganism occur naturally in coastal waters, wherever they attach to little crustaceans known as copepods. The

infectious disease microorganism travel with their hosts, spreading worldwide because the crustaceans follow their food supply — bound forms of protoctist and

being that grow explosively once water temperatures rise. protoctist growth is any burning by the carbamide found in waste matter and in

agricultural runoff.

Cholera microorganism in individuals

When humans ingest infectious disease microorganism, they will not become sick themselves, however they still pass the

microorganism in their stool. When human ordure contaminate food or water provides, each will function ideal breeding grounds for the infectious disease

microorganism.
Because quite 1,000,000 infectious disease microorganism — close to the quantity you'd realize during a glass of contaminated water

— ar required to cause malady, infectious disease sometimes is not transmitted through casual person-to-person contact.

The most common sources of infectious disease infection ar standing water and bound forms of food, together with food, raw fruits

and vegetables, and grains.
Surface or spring water. infectious disease microorganism will lie dormant in water for long periods, and contaminated public wells

ar frequent sources of large-scale infectious disease outbreaks. individuals living in jammed conditions while not adequate sanitation are particularly in danger of cholera.
Seafood. feeding raw or undercooked food, particularly shellfish, that originates from bound locations will expose you to infectious disease bacteria. most up-to-date cases of infectious disease occurring within the us are derived to food from the Gulf of Mexico.
Raw fruits and vegetables. Raw, unpeeled fruits and vegetables ar a frequent supply of {cholera|Asiatic infectious disease|Indian cholera|epidemic cholera|infectious disease} infection in areas wherever cholera is endemic. In developing nations, uncomposted manure fertilizers or irrigation water containing raw waste matter will contaminate produce within the field.
Grains. In regions wherever infectious disease is widespread, grains like rice and millet that ar contaminated once change of state and allowed to remain at temperature for many hours become a medium for the expansion of infectious disease microorganism.

Risk factors

Everyone is prone to infectious disease, with the exception of infants United Nations agency derive immunity from nursing mothers United Nations agency have antecedently had infectious disease. Still, bound factors will cause you to additional at risk of the sickness or additional doubtless to expertise severe signs and symptoms. Risk factors for infectious disease include:

Poor hygienic conditions. infectious disease is additional doubtless to flourish in things wherever a hygienic surroundings — together with a secure water supply — is troublesome to take care of. Such conditions ar common to expatriate camps, impoverished countries, and areas ravaged by famine, war or natural disasters.
Reduced or nonexistent abdomen acid (hypochlorhydria or achlorhydria). infectious disease microorganism cannot survive in AN acidic surroundings, and normal abdomen acid usually is a first-line defense against infection. however individuals with low levels of abdomen acid —

such as kids, older adults, and other people United Nations agency take antacids, H-2 blockers or nucleon pump inhibitors — lack this protection, therefore they are at greater risk of infectious disease.
Household exposure. you are at considerably inflated risk of {cholera|Asiatic cholera|Indian cholera|epidemic cholera|infectious sickness} if you reside with somebody United Nations agency has the disease.
Type O blood. For reasons that are not entirely clear, individuals with blood group blood ar doubly as doubtless to develop infectious disease as ar individuals with different blood varieties.
Raw or undercooked shellfish. though large-scale infectious disease outbreaks now not occur in industrialised nations, feeding shellfish from waters identified to harbor the microorganism greatly will increase your risk.

Complications

Cholera will quickly become fatal. within the most severe cases, the fast loss of huge amounts of fluids and electrolytes will cause
death among 2 to 3 hours. In less extreme things, people that do not receive treatment might die of dehydration and shock
hours to days once infectious disease symptoms 1st seem.
Although shock and severe dehydration ar the foremost devastating complications of infectious disease, different issues will occur,
such as:
Low blood glucose (hypoglycemia). hazardously low levels of blood glucose (glucose) — the body's main energy supply — might occur when individuals become too sick to eat. kids ar at greatest risk of this complication, which may cause seizures, state of mind
and even death.
Low metal levels (hypokalemia). individuals with infectious disease lose giant quantities of minerals, together with metal, in their stools. Very low metal levels interfere with heart and nerve perform and ar serious.
Kidney (renal) failure. once the kidneys lose their filtering ability, excess amounts of fluids, some electrolytes and wastes build up in your body — a probably serious condition. In individuals with infectious disease, nephrosis usually accompanies shock.

Dawud Hadith - 2

Narrated AbuDharr:

We fasted with the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) during Ramadan, but he did not make us get up at night for prayer at any time during the month till seven nights remained; then he made us get up for prayer till a third of the night had passed. When the sixth remaining night came, he did not make us get up for prayer. When the fifth remaining night came, he made us stand in prayer till a half of the night had gone.

So I said: Apostle of Allah, I wish you had led us in supererogatory prayers during the whole of tonight.

He said: When a man prays with an imam till he goes he is reckoned as having spent a whole night in prayer. On the fourth remaining night he did not make us get up. When the third remaining night came, he gathered his family, his wives, and the people and prayed with us till we were afraid we should miss the falah (success).

I said: What is falah? He said: The meal before daybreak. Then he did not make us get up for prayer during the remainder of the month.

.....

Narrated Amr ibn al-'As:

The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) taught me fifteen prostrations while reciting the Qur'an, including three in al-Mufassal and two in Surah al-Hajj.

........

Narrated Ali ibn AbuTalib:

The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Allah is single (witr) and loves what is single, so observe the witr, you who follow the Qur'an.

...........

Narrated AbuSa'id al-Khudri:

The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: There is no zakat payable (on grain or dates) on less than five camel-loads. The wasq (one camel-load) measures sixty sa' in weight.

...................

Narrated Aqra' ibn Habib:

Ibn Abbas said: Aqra' ibn Habis asked the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) saying: Apostle of Allah hajj is to be performed annually or only once? He replied: Only once, and if anyone performs it more often, he performs a supererogatory act.

Dawud Hadith - 1

Narrated Mughirah ibn Shu'bah:
When the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) went (outside) to relieve himself, he went to a far-off place.

....................
Narrated Abdullah Ibn Abbas:

The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said: Gabriel (peace_be_upon_him) led me in prayer at the House (i.e. the Ka'bah). He prayed the noon prayer with me when the sun had passed the meridian to the extent of the thong of a sandal; he prayed the afternoon prayer with me when the shadow of everything was as long as itself; he prayed the sunset prayer with me when one who is fasting breaks the fast; he prayed the night prayer with me when the twilight had ended; and he prayed the dawn prayer with me when food and drink become forbidden to one who is keeping the fast.

On the following day he prayed the noon prayer with me when his shadow was as long as himself; he prayed the afternoon prayer with me when his shadow was twice as long as himself; he prayed the sunset prayer at the time when one who is fasting breaks the fast; he prayed the night prayer with me when about the third of the night had passed; and he prayed the dawn prayer with me when there was a fair amount of light.

Then turning to me he said: Muhammad, this is the time observed by the prophets before you, and the time is anywhere between two times.
.........................
Narrated Wa'il ibn Hujr:

I purposely looked at the prayer of the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him), how he offered it. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) stood up, faced the direction of the qiblah and uttered the takbir (Allah is most great) and then raised his hands in front of his ears, then placed his right hand on his left (catching each other).

When he was about to bow, he raised them in the same manner. He then placed his hands on his knees. When he raised his head after bowing, he raised them in the like manner. When he prostrated himself he placed his forehead between his hands.

He then sat down and spread his left foot and placed his left hand on his left thigh, and kept his right elbow aloof from his right thigh. He closed his two fingers and made a circle (with the fingers).

I (Asim ibn Kulayb) saw him (Bishr ibn al-Mufaddal) say in this manner. Bishr made the circle with the thumb and the middle finger and pointed with the forefinger.

....................

Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin:

The prayer was prescribed as consisting of two rak'ahs both when one was resident and when travelling. The prayer while travelling was left according to the original prescription and the prayer of one who was resident was enhanced.

.........................

Narrated Abdullah Ibn Abbas:

In Surat al-Muzzammil (73), the verse: "Keep vigil at night but a little, a half thereof" (2-3) has been abrogated by the following verse: "He knoweth that ye count it not, and turneth unto you in mercy. Recite then of the Qur'an that which is easy for you" (v.20). The phrase "the vigil of the night" (nashi'at al-layl) means the early hours of the night. They (the companions) would pray (the tahajjud prayer) in the early hours of the night.

He (Ibn Abbas) says: It is advisable to offer the prayer at night (tahajjud), prescribed by Allah for you (in the early hours of the night). This is because when a person sleeps, he does not know when he will awake. The words "speech more certain" (aqwamu qilan) means that this time is more suitable for the understanding of the Qur'an. He says: The verse: "Lo, thou hast by day a chain of business" (v.7) means engagement for long periods (in the day's work).
